Death By Steampunk

Posted by Denise on September 24, 2009 under Books, For Writers, Humour, Quirky

Steampunk is the new buzzword around Genre World. Exactly what it means is open to interpretation, but there do seem to be a few constants. Like dirty great steam machines. heh heh

This video is an absolute hoot. Totally brilliant. What’s more, it contains most of the elements of ’steampunk’ - especially the aforesaid dirty great steam machines. *grin*

Enjoy!

Thanks to Eleni for drawing my attention to it.

  1. mary de Said,

   How corny was that.
Well now I know more than I did yesterday about Steampunk.
And that was almost zilcch! So who writes it?

  2. Eleni Konstantine Said,

No worries Denise  I loved it. See all the steam - yep steampunk has the fun of the scientific world usually set in the Victorian era and instead of being stifly has the element of fun and abit less restrictive. Think movie ‘The League of Extraordinary Gentelmen’. Well that’s what I’ve come to understand but I’m learning about it every day too.

  3. Malvina Said,

    What a lot of fun!

  4. Denise Rossetti Said,

    Hi Mary,
Yeah it was corny all right - but fun! There was a discussion about steampunk on the Romaus loop recently - just do a search for it. In the meantime, try these -

  5. AmyC Said,

I love the idea of Steampunk. I read Clockwork Heart by Dru Pagliossatti. Now that one took place in its own world, rather than Victorian England. It was a really great book, even had a nice romance. I’m waiting to see what books come out in the next couple of years in the romance genre that’ll be labeled Steampunk. I know Katie MacAlister has one coming out Feb. 2, called Steamed. I haven’t read her, but I am picking this one up. It’ll be interesting to see how many romance authors try their hands at this new and upcoming genre. I for one, can’t wait!

    I loved that video, btw!

  6. Denise Rossetti Said,

Thanks for the info, Eleni.
